Wilo-SiBoost Smart Helix EXCEL – The smart pressure-boosting system with low overall energy consumption

In densely populated rural areas, the transportation of water is often associated with leakage risks. This results in high operating costs. Our solution: the Wilo-SiBoostSmart Helix EXCEL significantly reduces overall power consumption thanks to its top-quality components (hydraulics and motors) as well as a switchgear which supports leakage detection via an optional communication interface.

Construction:

Highly efficient water-supply unit ready for connection with 2 to 4 vertically arranged non-self-priming stainless steel high-pressure centrifugal pumps of the Helix EXCEL series switched in parallel. Each pump is equipped with EC motor driven by integrated air-cooled, high-efficiency frequency inverter. Valves and sensors are protected for safe and reliable operation. The system features a Smart Controller SCe.

Application:

Fully automatic water supply and pressure boosting in inlet mode, either from the public water supply network or from a tank, for domestic, commercial, industrial and municipal applications (e.g. residential, office, administration buildings, hotels, hospitals, trades, industry, water supply companies).Standby pump included in accordance with DIN 1988 and DIN EN 806.

Approved fluids are generally waters which do not attack the materials used, neither chemically nor mechanically, and do not contain any abrasive or long-fiber constituents like:

  • Drinking water
  • Cooling water
  • Process water
  • Firefighting water (apart from fire-extinguishing systems in accordance with DIN 14462 and with the approval of the local fire safety authorities)

 


Description/Construction:

Base frame: galvanized steel, with height-adjustable vibration absorbers for comprehensive insulation against structure-borne noise as well as integrated lifting points and cables tray.

Pipework: complete pipework made of stainless steel, suitable for the connection of all conventional piping materials. The pipework is dimensioned according to the overall hydraulic performance of the pressure boosting system.

Pumps: 2 to 4 pumps from the Helix EXCEL 2 up to Helix EXCEL 52 series switched in parallel are used. The air-cooled frequency inverters mounted on the pump motors enable continuous auto control between 25 Hz and a maximum of 60 Hz for all pumps of this series.All pump parts in contact with the fluid are made of stainless steel with KTW/WRAS/ACS approval.ES versions use AISI 316 stainless steel pumps.

Valves: Each pump is fitted on the suction and pressure side with a standard shut-off unit with DVGW approval mark and on the pressure side with a DVGW/KTW-approved non-return valve.

Diaphragm pressure vessel: 8 l/PN 16 arranged on the discharge side with a diaphragm made of butyl rubber, with DVGW/KTW approval, completely safe in accordance with food safety laws; for testing and inspection purposes, with a ball valve with drain and throughflow fitting with DVGW/KTW approval in accordance with DIN 4807.

  • Pressure monitoring: 2 Pressure sensors: 4..20 mA, located on the pressure and suction sides.
  • Pressure indication: pressure gauge arranged on the suction and the discharge sides.
  • Removable covers: on the suction side and pressure side for optimal protection of the regulating components and sensors against wire breakage and prevents early wear (not for Helix EXCEL 52 series)
  • Control panel: Smart Controller SCe as standard with LCD display.

Equipment/function:

  • 2-4 pumps per system of the Helix EXCEL 2 to Helix EXCEL 52 series, with high-efficiency IE5 EC motor speed controlled via integrated frequency inverter on each pump.
  • SCe control panel ensures automatic control of the complete booster set.
  • All is mounted on galvanized steel height adjustable base frame with removable cover for protection of system components (except Helix EXCEL 52 series).
  • All components in contact with fluid are corrosion resistant.
